Xiaomi YU7 Smart SUV Gains Attention with Strong Performance and Aesthetic Design
Following the market excitement generated by its first model SU7, Xiaomi has made another move with the YU7, which has quickly become the focus of the smart SUV market due to its powerful capabilities and aesthetic technology. The targeted users of YU7 are characterized as young, high-budget, and diverse. Public information indicates that the average age of YU7 users is 33, primarily consisting of millennials, with females accounting for 30%, up from SU7's 25.5%. In this era of smart consumption, an increasing number of women are investing in their 'ideal vehicles'. YU7's user base is not only young but also financially capable, with 72% of consumers planning to spend over 260,000 yuan, a significant increase from SU7's 49%. Geographically, the top three cities for YU7 sales are Shanghai, Hangzhou, and Beijing, where users show a higher acceptance of quality and smart experiences, making these areas the fastest growing markets for smart electric vehicles. In terms of purchasing considerations, the aesthetic appeal of YU7 stands out, with 50% of consumers choosing the vehicle based on its design—'looks' have become the primary decision factor. YU7 has precisely captured the aesthetic logic of contemporary 'appearance-driven' consumers, elevating it from a functional product to a 'mobile space' that embodies personality and taste. Notably, the majority of YU7 users come from the Xiaomi ecosystem. Surveys show that over 90% of consumers have used other Xiaomi products, with a striking 98.5% of YU7 owners being Xiaomi ecosystem users, compared to 99% for SU7. They are not just 'Mi fans' but also early adopters of high-end technology. However, YU7 is also attracting a broader audience, with 52.4% of its users being iPhone owners, surpassing SU7's 48%, indicating a more open and diverse consumer preference for tech brands. From gender, budget, to urban structure, the user composition of YU7 showcases its strong penetration into the new generation of smart consumers and lays a solid foundation for Xiaomi's further entry into the high-end new energy market. In terms of performance and delivery, YU7 shows comprehensive product competitiveness. Compared to SU7, YU7 has made significant upgrades across multiple core dimensions. The power system offers two battery capacities of 96.3kWh and 101.7kWh, with an 800V high-voltage platform across all versions, greatly enhancing charging efficiency and supporting higher intensity power output, meeting users' dual expectations for acceleration performance and refueling speed. In the smart cabin and driving assistance aspects, YU7 is equipped with a chip platform with up to 700TOPS of computing power, far exceeding that of the entire SU7 lineup. It also comes standard with urban and expressway NOA navigation assist functions, making the vehicle's intelligent performance more comprehensive and further enhancing the user driving experience and daily convenience. As of the end of May 2025, the total terminal delivery of Xiaomi's SU7 and SU7 Ultra reached 270,000 units, with a monthly delivery of 29,000 units in May, indicating a sustained increase in market heat. Currently, Xiaomi's first-phase factory is operational, producing the SU7 series with a two-shift system to ensure capacity. The second-phase factory is slated to begin production in July, primarily responsible for YU7, with an annual planned capacity of 150,000 units. YU7 received a strong market response immediately after its release, with over 289,000 pre-orders within an hour. With the added production capacity and robust demand, YU7 is expected to achieve a delivery target of approximately 100,000 units in 2025, with capacity ramp-up providing critical support for smooth deliveries. Defining high-end with detail, YU7 breaks through in aesthetics, endurance, and handling. Positioned as a luxury sports SUV, it showcases sincerity in both design and configuration. The new vehicle offers up to nine exterior color options and four interior schemes, catering to users' diverse personalization needs. In terms of endurance, YU7's entire lineup exceeds 760km, with the Max version achieving 3,944km in a 24-hour real-world test, fully validating the stability of its electronic control system and refueling efficiency. Addressing the users' primary concern of 'range anxiety', Xiaomi has delivered a compelling answer. The 2025 YU7 ultra-long-range rear-wheel-drive version, equipped with a 96.3kWh high-capacity battery, boasts a CLTC range of 835 kilometers, which is rare for entry-level configurations within the mid-large electric SUV market. Its handling performance is equally impressive, offering multiple versions with rear-wheel and all-wheel drive, the latter equipped with a dual-motor system and dual-chamber air suspension in higher trims, balancing control and comfort. The all-wheel-drive Max version supports 5.2C charging rates, leading its class in refueling efficiency. Additionally, optional features like Brembo four-piston calipers and carbon fiber kits provide customization and performance expansion for users. Notably, YU7 also features a 1.1-meter 'Sky Screen' composed of three MiniLED screens that spans the dashboard, capable of projecting through the windshield to create a unique curved display effect, enhancing the immersive smart cabin experience. Its high clarity and distortion-free design further strengthen the vehicle's technological feel and high-end quality. Setting a price by strength, YU7 excels in both cost-performance and experience. For example, the 2025 YU7 ultra-long-range rear-wheel-drive version has a wheelbase of 3000mm, leading its class and offering more spacious interior space. Despite having superior dimensions compared to competitors in the same price range, YU7 keeps its turning radius to 5.7 meters, matching the Zeekr 7X and outperforming the Model Y's 6.065 meters, ensuring flexibility in urban driving and parking. Overall, YU7 achieves an ideal balance between 'spaciousness' and 'ease of handling'. In terms of smart configurations, YU7 also showcases leading advantages. It is equipped with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen3 automotive-grade chip and a 3K central control screen with a resolution of 3072×1920, far surpassing the Model Y's 1080P screen. The entire lineup comes standard with a HUD head-up display and ADB adaptive high beam lights, significantly enhancing driving safety and convenience, while supporting navigation assist in urban and highway scenarios, providing a robust foundation for future software upgrades. In key parameters like endurance, space, and smart hardware, YU7 significantly raises the 'basics' and demonstrates stronger overall strength compared to competitors like the Model Y, Zeekr 7X, and Zhijie R7. Despite fully loaded product configurations, the starting price is controlled at 253,500 yuan, highlighting its clear cost-performance advantage. In line with mainstream market trends, YU7's pricing strategy reflects Xiaomi's deep understanding of 'friend pricing'—offering products that exceed expectations at mainstream prices. This differentiated approach is expected to help YU7 capture more users and market share in the fiercely competitive new energy market.
