Pony.ai Launches Robotaxi Road Testing in Luxembourg

Pony.ai Launches Robotaxi Road Testing in Luxembourg
On July 4, Pony.ai officially announced the launch of Robotaxi road testing in Luxembourg. This significant development marks an important step in the global deployment of its Robotaxi service and demonstrates the company's determination to promote technological implementation worldwide through the construction of an industrial ecosystem. In collaboration with the well-known local mobility company Emile Weber, Pony.ai has deployed multiple Robotaxis for testing in the area, with the first phase of testing starting in the city of Lenningen and plans to gradually expand to more regions. Emile Weber, with over 150 years of operational history, provides a range of services including public and personal transportation, taxi operations, vehicle rentals, and tourism services. Their extensive local operational experience and established transportation network provide valuable scenario data to support the rapid deployment of Robotaxi in Luxembourg. Earlier this year, in April, Pony.ai obtained the first batch of Robotaxi testing permits issued by the Luxembourg Ministry of Transport and Public Works. The company has also established a European R&D center in Luxembourg to accelerate the innovation of autonomous driving technology and integrate it into the new generation of transportation networks. Pony.ai co-founder and CEO Peng Jun revealed that besides Emile Weber, the company is closely collaborating with various Luxembourg public institutions and commercial partners to jointly build a technological and policy framework. In addition to entering Luxembourg, Pony.ai is continuously expanding its overseas footprint. For example, in May, the company reached a strategic cooperation agreement with mobility giant Uber, with the first service set to launch in key markets in the Middle East and gradually promote globally; it has partnered with the Dubai Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) to advance Robotaxi deployment; collaborated with ComfortDelGro Group to explore future commercialization of Robotaxi in Singapore; and initiated testing in Seoul's Gangnam District with South Korea's PonyLink in the first quarter of this year. Currently, Pony.ai's global autonomous driving testing mileage has surpassed 45 million kilometers, with an operational network of over 2,000 square kilometers in major cities including Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, and Shenzhen, covering high-complexity scenarios such as train stations, airports, and bustling commercial districts. Over the past two years, it has completed more than 500,000 hours of fully unmanned driving tests across diverse scenarios.
