NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang Discusses Company Challenges and China Supply Chain Importance
On July 21, it was reported by CCTV News that NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang expressed in an interview that he still feels like the company is facing a crisis of closure every day. "I always feel like we are about to go under. I constantly think that while we are achieving something, others might be creating something great," he said. When asked about the joys of being a CEO, Huang remarked, "Being a CEO is not always that fun. You are under pressure all the time; I have lived under pressure every day, every minute for 33 years. Every second of those 33 years, I have felt the weight of the company, customers, and the market; that pressure has never left me, not even for a moment." Huang also mentioned that the world is becoming increasingly turbulent and changes are happening faster than ever. "We need the expertise of the Chinese supply chain more than ever. Decoupling from the global supply chain is unrealistic; China is not only a crucial part of it but also provides technology and products for the supply chains of other countries. Additionally, the Chinese market is unique for NVIDIA," he stated. When asked whether NVIDIA considers Huawei a competitor or a partner, Huang replied, "This company is still very competitive; they are our competitors, but we can still admire and respect our competitors and maintain a good relationship with them. A competitor is not an enemy. The world is vast, and I hope we can continue to compete for many years to come, but my feelings towards them are admiration, respect, and a competitive spirit." During the interview, Huang also mentioned that he met with Lei Jun in Beijing, noting that they have been collaborating since the founding of Xiaomi. Public records show that Jensen Huang was born in Taiwan in 1963, moved to Thailand at the age of five, and relocated to the United States at the age of ten. After earning a master's degree in electrical engineering from Stanford University, he founded NVIDIA in 1993, and the company invented the GPU in 1999, making real-time programmable shading technology possible.
