On July 29, Tianyancha reported that Chery Automobile Co., Ltd. has applied for a patent for a 'Folding Wing Mechanism and Flying Car'. According to the patent abstract, this application provides a folding wing mechanism for a flying car, which includes a wing body plate, two fixed wings, and two sets of folding components, with each fixed wing connected to the wing body plate via the folding components. The two fixed wings are symmetrically distributed about the YOZ plane, and the two sets of folding components are also symmetrically distributed about the YOZ plane. The folding components are designed to switch the fixed wings between the deployed and folded states. In the deployed state, the plane of the fixed wings is perpendicular to a second direction, while in the folded state, it is perpendicular to a first direction. The second direction is parallel to the thickness direction of the wing body plate and perpendicular to the first direction. This setup allows for the folding of the fixed wings, reducing the space they occupy, enabling the flying car to drive on conventional roads and park in standard parking spaces. During this year's Shanghai Auto Show, Chery unveiled its tri-body composite wing flying car. This flying car features a unique tri-body docking structure, consisting of a flying module, a cabin module, and a driving module, with a modular design that adapts to various scenarios and needs. The flying module combined with the cabin can form an airplane shape, while the driving module combined with the cabin forms a car shape, allowing for flexible assembly akin to 'Lego'. This unique modular design enables the flying car to switch forms based on actual needs—installing the flying module allows for takeoff, after which it automatically disconnects from the driving module, and upon landing, it can reconnect with the driving module for use. Additionally, this tri-body composite wing flying car eliminates traditional controls such as steering wheels and pedals, supporting both autonomous flying and driving operations.
