Xpeng Responds to Cost Reduction Rumors for G6 Model

On July 25, media reports indicated that Xpeng is formulating a cost reduction plan for its G6 model. Currently, the three variants of the G6 for sale will see a cost decrease of 10,000 to 20,000 CNY per vehicle. The G6, under the cost reduction plan, is expected to start production in the fourth quarter of this year. The reports also mentioned that the current G6 project code is F30b, which will change to F30be after cost reductions. Xpeng aims to replace some suppliers for G6 components without significantly affecting the quality or core product features such as design and functionality. In response, Xpeng's Vice President labeled the reports as 'false news,' stating that the company has already coordinated with its internal product, legal, and government departments. He accused the media of maliciously spreading rumors and indicated that this is not the first time. The Xpeng G6 was launched in June 2023 with a price range of 209,900 to 276,900 CNY. In March of this year, the 2025 model G6 was released, starting at 176,800 CNY, which is a reduction of 23,100 CNY from the previous model, with the top variant seeing a price drop of 78,100 CNY. Within just 7 minutes of its launch, the model secured over 5,000 pre-orders. The exterior of the 2025 Xpeng G6 features a new continuous light strip on the front and a repositioned logo on the hood. The rear includes a 'ducktail' spoiler above the continuous light strip. In terms of dimensions, the 2025 G6 measures 4758 mm in length, 1920 mm in width, and 1650 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2890 mm. The interior offers three color options: Deep Space Gray, Fuyou Green, and Qiyu Gray, equipped with a family-style capacitive steering wheel, a 10.25-inch LCD instrument panel, a 15.6-inch floating central control screen, and a dial-type electronic gear shifter. All variants of the 2025 G6 come standard with Turing AI, equipped with dual 8-megapixel cameras and two NVIDIA Orin chips, providing a computing power of 508 TOPS. The vehicle is built on a high-voltage 800-volt silicon carbide platform and features a single motor rear-wheel drive with a maximum power of 218 kW and peak torque of 450 Nm. It is also equipped with a 5C supercharging AI battery offering two specifications, with CLTC range of 625 km and 725 km respectively (with 20-inch wheels, range decreases by 25 km).
