UConn Researchers Unveil RoboNautilus Robot Inspired by Cephalopods
Researchers from the University of Connecticut, led by Assistant Professor Mihai 'Mishu' Duduta, have introduced the RoboNautilus robot. This fully soft robotic system draws inspiration from the jet propulsion mechanisms of cephalopods. By mimicking the unique anatomical structures and fluid dynamics of these ancient marine animals, the team has demonstrated a new method powered entirely by Dielectric Elastomer Actuators (DEAs) to achieve efficient and low-noise underwater movement.
