On July 24, He Xiaopeng, chairman of XPeng Motors, announced that the company's first overseas manufacturing base has officially begun production. The first locally produced XPeng X9 was delivered to an Indonesian owner on July 23, marking a milestone in XPeng's global localization strategy. Last month, XPeng Motors announced the launch of its flagship all-electric MPV, the XPeng X9, in the Indonesian market, with a starting price of 990 million Indonesian Rupiah (approximately 437,000 RMB). The XPeng X9, as the first model produced and delivered overseas, features a spacious interior, rear-wheel steering, and comprehensive AI capabilities, allowing it to switch flexibly between a large four-seat SUV and a seven-seat MPV, with three rows of seats that can be electrically folded down with one touch. Additionally, XPeng Motors stated that the right-hand drive version of the XPeng X9 will begin local production in Jakarta in July 2025, signifying the official launch of its first overseas localization project in Indonesia. Currently, XPeng Motors is accelerating the expansion of its sales and service network in Indonesia, with plans to prioritize experience centers in major cities such as Jakarta, Bali, and Java. XPeng aims to cover 70% of core city centers and 85% of high-density areas by the end of this year. Since starting its globalization journey in 2020, XPeng Motors has expanded to 46 countries and regions worldwide, becoming the sales champion for Chinese new energy brands in 10 countries in Europe, with cumulative global deliveries exceeding 800,000 units. According to plans, by 2025, XPeng Motors will enter markets in over 60 countries and regions, aiming for overseas sales to account for 50% of total sales within the next 10 years. Recently, XPeng Motors has been rapidly advancing its international expansion, ranking first among Chinese new energy brands in overseas sales in nine countries including Ireland, the Netherlands, Denmark, Norway, Finland, Portugal, Belgium, Singapore, and Israel from January to May.
