Since its launch, the Wenjie M8 has gained significant attention from consumers due to its outstanding product strength, with sales continuously on the rise. In June alone, the M8 achieved over 21,000 single-model deliveries. This article explores where the popular M8, which sells more than 20,000 units monthly, is being purchased.
Launched on April 16, the Wenjie M8 is priced between 359,800 and 449,800 yuan, offering six different versions for consumers. Its remarkable market performance has seen cumulative reservations surpassing 80,000 units. The M8's success can be attributed to its unique exterior design, luxurious and comfortable interior, leading-edge intelligent technology, and powerful and efficient power system, fulfilling diverse consumer demands for quality, intelligence, and practicality across different regions.
In less than three months since its launch, the M8 has achieved a cumulative terminal sales figure of 35,000 units, with June alone seeing a remarkable 21,000 units sold. In June, the private market accounted for 17,800 units or 84.6% of total sales, while the corporate market represented 3,228 units, making up 15%. Among the various configurations, the 2025 Max+ version with a 310km range priced at 399,800 yuan was the best-seller in June, totaling 7,140 units sold. It was followed by the five-seat version priced at 379,800 yuan, which sold 5,289 units. The 2025 Ultra version at 449,800 yuan also performed well, with 4,760 units sold. In contrast, the 35,980 yuan Max version with a 201km range and the 36,980 yuan six-seat version had disappointing sales of 225 and 177 units, respectively, indicating that price is not the only consideration for consumers, who are more inclined to evaluate overall vehicle performance.
In terms of geographical distribution, the Wenjie M8 sold in 290 cities in June, with Shenzhen leading at 984 units sold. As a hub for technological innovation, consumers in Shenzhen are quick to adopt smart vehicles, with a strong demand for high-end SUVs that cater to both business and family needs. Chengdu and Chongqing followed with 894 and 799 units sold, showcasing the consumption potential of major cities in the western region. The M8's strong power output and endurance advantages make it well-suited for the challenging terrains of Chongqing.
Cities in the Yangtze River Delta, including Hangzhou (744 units), Suzhou (331 units), and Ningbo (320 units), reflect the consumption characteristics of active private economies. Consumers in Hangzhou share a similar enthusiasm for smart technology as those in Shenzhen, while entrepreneurs in Suzhou and Ningbo focus more on the business attributes of vehicles. In the Pearl River Delta, Guangzhou (774 units) and Dongguan (405 units) represent another consumer tier. In Guangzhou, consumers are discerning regarding vehicle quality, while Dongguan's large middle-class population sees the five-seat version at 379,800 yuan as a cost-effective choice for both business and family use.
Sales in central and western provincial capitals such as Wuhan (556 units), Xi'an (536 units), and Zhengzhou (451 units) indicate an acceleration in consumption upgrades in inland regions. By province, the Wenjie M8 has sales in 31 provinces, with Guangdong leading at 3,467 units, establishing itself as the M8's largest market nationally. As one of China's most economically developed regions, Guangdong has a large and active automotive consumption market with high acceptance and purchasing power for new energy vehicles. Zhejiang and Jiangsu follow with 1,991 and 1,547 units sold, respectively, both being economically prosperous regions that value high-quality automobiles. Beijng, Hebei, Liaoning, and Shanghai saw sales around 500-600 units, where despite strict purchase restrictions, the Wenjie M8 still achieved commendable sales, indicating strong consumer recognition of its product strength. Regions like Gansu, Ningxia, Qinghai, and Tibet had sales below 100 units due to lower economic development levels and population density.
Overall, the Wenjie M8's best-selling cities share common characteristics of "economic prosperity, population density, and advanced consumption concepts." These cities either have strong technological industry bases, large family consumption markets, or serve as regional business activity centers. The M8's precise product positioning—building comprehensive advantages in intelligence, space, and power—successfully caters to diverse scene demands. The pure electric version of the Wenjie M8 is set to launch in August, with pre-orders starting on July 25 at a suggested price of 379,800 yuan. Official data indicates that within just eight hours of opening pre-orders, over 10,000 orders were placed. With the introduction of the pure electric version, the monthly sales of the Wenjie M8 series are expected to challenge 30,000 units.
