Volkswagen Group Delivers 4.41 Million Vehicles Globally in H1 2025, Electric Vehicle Sales Surge

Volkswagen Group has reported a total delivery of 4.41 million vehicles globally in the first half of 2025, achieving a year-on-year growth of 1.3% despite a challenging market environment. The sales of pure electric vehicles showed remarkable performance, with an impressive year-on-year increase of nearly 50%. In the first half of 2025, the group delivered 465,500 pure electric vehicles globally, marking a 47% increase, and their share in overall sales rose from 7% last year to 11%. In the European market, the group's pure electric vehicle sales soared by 89% year-on-year, maintaining its position as the top player in the European electric vehicle market; in the United States, the group saw a 24% increase in pure electric vehicle deliveries. During the same period, the total order volume for the group increased by approximately 20% year-on-year, with orders for pure electric vehicles growing by over 60%. In the Chinese market, Volkswagen Group delivered 1.31 million vehicles in the first half of 2025, reflecting a slight year-on-year decline of 2.3%. Notably, in June alone, the delivery volume reached 247,000 vehicles, achieving a year-on-year growth of 9%. Despite ongoing price wars in the first half of the year, Volkswagen Group managed to secure steady sales performance and meet its expected targets. From May to June, the group focused on strengthening the sales of fuel vehicles in China and achieved significant results. The delivery volume in China saw year-on-year growth, further solidifying its leading position in the fuel vehicle market. The group remains focused on profitability, refusing to sacrifice it for market share. Based on this strategy, the group can continue investing in future technological developments and steadily achieve its long-term strategic goals. In terms of brand performance, the Volkswagen brand (including Jetta) delivered a total of 996,000 vehicles in the first half of the year, marking a year-on-year growth of 1.1%, with the Jetta and Passat models continuing to lead their respective segments. In June alone, Volkswagen brand (including Jetta) sales reached 187,300 vehicles, a year-on-year increase of 15.1%. In the premium vehicle segment, Audi brand sales remained strong, ranking among the top three. Looking ahead, in 2025, Volkswagen Group will officially enter the "Delivering in China for China" strategic results delivery model, launching the largest-ever new energy product offensive in China at the Shanghai Auto Show. Starting in the second half of 2025, the group will gradually deliver its next-generation intelligent connected vehicle products to Chinese customers, including the pure electric Audi E5 Sportback, Audi Q6L e-tron, as well as fuel models Audi A5L and A5L Sportback, among others. By 2026, the group plans to accelerate its "delivery model," intending to launch over 20 new intelligent connected models in China, covering various powertrain formats including fuel, pure electric, plug-in hybrid, and extended-range vehicles. By 2027, approximately 30 new energy models will be introduced in the Chinese market, and by 2030, this number will rise to around 50, with about 30 of these being pure electric vehicles.
