Tesla Reports Decline in Deliveries for Two Consecutive Quarters

Tesla has reported a decline in delivery volumes year-on-year for two consecutive quarters. Recently, the company released its delivery data for the second quarter of 2025, showing a total of 384,100 vehicles delivered, a decrease of 13.48% compared to the previous year. Of this total, the deliveries of the Tesla Model 3/Y accounted for 373,700 units, while other models, including the Cybertruck, saw deliveries of only about 10,000 units. This marks Tesla's lowest delivery quarter since 2022. In the first half of this year, Tesla has delivered a total of 720,803 vehicles, which is approximately 110,000 units short compared to the same period last year. In contrast to its automotive business, Tesla's energy products sector has shown more promising performance, with energy product installations reaching 9.6 GWh in the second quarter, reflecting a year-on-year growth of 2.1%. On June 20, a cooperation agreement was signed for the grid-connected zero-carbon energy international cooperation demonstration center project involving the Shanghai Lingang New Area Administrative Committee, the Fengxian District People's Government, China Kangfu, and Tesla (Shanghai) Co., Ltd. The total investment for this project is approximately 4 billion yuan, which includes a gigawatt-level grid-side independent energy storage station and supporting industrial park. This marks the signing of Tesla's first grid-side energy storage project in mainland China. The Shanghai energy storage super factory project was signed on April 9, 2023, and is Tesla's first energy storage super factory project outside of the United States. The project successfully acquired land in December 2023, and construction is set to begin in May 2024, with the first Megapack product officially rolling off the production line in February of this year. The project plans to produce 10,000 units of the next-generation Tesla ultra-large commercial energy storage battery (Megapack 2 XL) annually, with a storage capacity of nearly 40 GWh, targeting markets worldwide.
