Recently, reports from relevant sources revealed a set of testing images of the Suzuki Escudo. The new vehicle is scheduled to be launched on September 3 in India and will be a new SUV product line for the Suzuki brand in the Indian market, positioned below the current Grand Vitara and likely aimed at the compact SUV segment. Previous information indicated that the Suzuki Escudo would draw design inspiration from the current Grand Vitara, with rear design elements possibly influenced by the new Vitara EV. Latest spy shots of the camouflaged testing vehicle show a front fascia featuring split headlights and a rear design with a continuous light strip, a trend currently popular in the international automotive market. Additionally, the new model will offer traditional door handles, a roof rack, and a shark fin antenna. In terms of power, the Suzuki Escudo may be equipped with the same 1.5-liter engine and 1.5-liter hybrid system as the Grand Vitara. The 1.5-liter engine generates a maximum power of 75.8 kW and a maximum torque of 139 N·m, paired with either a 5-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic transmission. The 1.5-liter hybrid system provides a combined power output of 85 kW, matched with an E-CVT electronic continuously variable transmission. In the Indian market, potential competitors for the Suzuki Escudo include the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, and Toyota Hyryder. More information about the new vehicle will be continuously reported by relevant sources.
