SAIC and Huawei Make Progress on New Energy Vehicle Project
On July 11, SAIC Motor Corporation announced new developments in its collaboration with Huawei. This morning, SAIC released a teaser poster for its first model under the 'Shangjie' brand, revealing the outline of what is clearly an SUV. Following this, Yu Chengdong, Huawei's Executive Director and Chairman of the Terminal BG, shared the poster and expressed excitement for the upcoming launch, stating, 'Shangjie is coming! Stay tuned this autumn! Smart driving is great, with a blue light!' The Shangjie project was publicly announced in February, when SAIC and Huawei signed a deep cooperation agreement to jointly create a new brand of intelligent electric vehicles called 'Shangjie,' positioned as a mid-to-high-end smart electric vehicle within the HarmonyOS family. In April, the vehicle production and battery project for Shangjie officially settled in the Lingang New Area. SAIC President Jia Jianxu highlighted that the Shangjie project is a result of collaboration between SAIC and partners like Huawei, marking an important step for SAIC in the new energy vehicle sector. He revealed that there are already 5,000 dedicated team members for the Shangjie brand. Jia also expressed hope that the policy advantages and industrial foundation of the Lingang area would help SAIC achieve greater breakthroughs and developments in new energy vehicles. In May, Huawei Technologies transferred a 'Shangjie' trademark to SAIC. On June 30, 'Shangjie Automobile' launched its official Weibo account. Additionally, it has been reported that the first model of Shangjie has entered testing, with related road test images circulating online. Furthermore, SAIC has also initiated a strategic cooperation with OPPO for smart cockpit technology, exploring applications and promotion of smart cockpit technology in the automotive field to provide consumers with a more intelligent and convenient driving experience. MG and OPPO have announced their latest achievements in vehicle-machine connectivity as of June 30, enhancing the smart cockpit experience from a singular vehicle-machine connection to an ecological level, while innovating features such as smartphone voice integration, mobile application fusion, and seamless connectivity.
