New National Standard for Electric Vehicle Battery Box Connectors Approved

Recently, the National Standardization Administration announced the approval of National Standard GB/T 32879—2025, titled 'Electric Vehicle Replacement Battery Box Connectors,' which will officially take effect on January 1, 2026. This standard is a critical national guideline for compatibility and interchangeability in the battery swapping sector. It was organized and compiled by the China Electric Power Enterprise Federation, with significant contributions from major participating units including Shanghai Qiyuan Xindong Technology Co., Ltd., Sichuan Zhilith Wisdom Energy Technology Co., Ltd., CATL, Jiangsu Electric Power Easy Charge New Energy Technology Co., Ltd., and Shanghai Jiuxing Energy Technology Co., Ltd. The standard specifies the rated values, environmental conditions, interchangeability, structure and performance, inspection rules, as well as requirements for labeling, transportation, and storage of electric vehicle battery box connectors. It also describes corresponding test methods, applicable to the design, production, testing, and use of battery box connectors, providing unified norms and guidelines. The release of this standard will clarify the technological development direction of the industry, significantly enhance the compatibility, operational safety, and reliability of battery swapping, improve user experience, and accelerate the large-scale development of electric vehicle battery swapping models.
