Ministry of Industry and Information Technology: Improving the Green Low-Carbon Standard System

The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology recently issued a plan to advance the standardization of green low-carbon practices in industry and information technology. The initiative aims to establish and enhance a comprehensive green low-carbon standard system to support the transformation and upgrading of these sectors. The plan sets a target to drive the formulation and revision of over 100 standards in the green low-carbon field by 2027, gradually perfecting the standard system and improving the effectiveness of standardization work. By 2030, the foundation for green low-carbon standardization in industry and information technology is expected to be more robust, with a more complete standard system and a significant role in supporting green low-carbon development. The plan also emphasizes the need to strengthen the supply of carbon footprint accounting standards and steadily expand the range of covered products. It aims to address gaps in comprehensive resource utilization standards, particularly for the recycling of used batteries from new energy vehicles. Additionally, it seeks to enhance standards for cultivating green low-carbon industries, expediting the formulation of standards for industrial green microgrids, clean low-carbon hydrogen applications, efficient utilization of low and medium-temperature waste heat, and high-safety energy storage batteries. The plan calls for reinforced digital and green collaborative standard support, promoting the formulation and revision of green low-carbon standards in key areas such as data centers and communication infrastructure, while also updating energy-saving and water-saving standards and driving iterations of green manufacturing standards.
