Kia Reports June and First Half Sales Performance
At the beginning of this month, South Korean automaker Kia Motors released its wholesale sales figures for June and the first half of this year. According to Kia's report, the company's global sales in June 2025 reached 269,652 units, a slight increase of 0.2% compared to the same period last year. The growth in sales was attributed to the launch of new models, such as the EV3 electric SUV, the EV4 electric sedan, and the Tasman pickup truck, alongside strong demand for models like the Sportage and Seltos SUVs. The Sportage SUV sold 47,492 units globally, followed closely by the Seltos SUV with 27,665 units, and the Sorento SUV with 19,758 units. In terms of market performance outside of Korea, Kia's vehicle sales (excluding special-purpose vehicles) in June decreased by 0.8% compared to June 2024, totaling 222,997 units. The Sportage SUV led the brand's sales momentum with 41,129 units sold; the Seltos SUV followed with 22,565 units; and the K4 and K3 (known as Forte in some markets) combined for 18,342 units. Last month, Kia's domestic sales in South Korea amounted to 46,003 units, a 4.5% increase year-on-year. The Sorento SUV was the best-selling passenger vehicle in the domestic market with 7,923 units sold in June; the Carnival MPV followed with 6,714 units; and the Sportage SUV sold 6,363 units. For the first half of the year, Kia's global sales hit a record high, totaling 1,587,161 vehicles sold from January to June, representing a 2% increase from the first half of 2024. The Sportage SUV topped the sales list with 283,512 units sold; the Seltos SUV followed with 151,049 units; and the Sorento SUV had 137,461 units sold. Kia stated in a press release that it plans to maintain its sales momentum by launching new models like the PV5 and EV5. The company aims to drive growth through customer-centric strategies and strategic investments, solidifying its leadership in the global electrification sector.
