As smart cockpits evolve into a 'third living space', traditional shading solutions such as fabric curtains and film applications face issues like space occupation and design disruption, necessitating innovative optical technologies to balance light control, heat insulation, and privacy. Jingyi Technology's smart nano-dimming glass utilizes intelligent nano-suspension particle technology to provide a new generation of intelligent lighting environment solutions for vehicle spaces. On July 23, 2025, Zhang Yuzhe, General Manager of Zhejiang Jingyi New Materials Technology Co., Ltd., discussed at the 2025 Automotive Smart Glass Innovation Technology and Application Conference that conventional shading methods not only affect comfort but also limit the functionality and overall feel of the cockpit. The SPD smart nano-dimming glass technology has been successfully implemented in luxury models from brands like Mercedes-Benz, McLaren, and Ferrari, marking a significant breakthrough in enhancing the intelligence and comfort of high-end vehicles. Jingyi's self-developed Jlink ink-colored smart dimming glass breaks the industry norm of using blue tinting paths, enabling a richer application of space scenarios; additionally, the design of the double-curved large arch high-dimming glass fills a technical gap in the application of complex curved dimming films. Zhang emphasized that smart cockpits should not just be about stacking technology but should serve as spaces for emotional expression. The LV (Light Valve) nano-suspension particle technology and dimming glass solution developed by the Jingyi team is not only at an internationally advanced level but is also the only intelligent dimming solution currently applicable across multiple fields, including automotive, aviation, high-speed rail, and architecture, achieving true integrated cross-scenario empowerment. Zhang Yuzhe's speech highlighted the technological breakthroughs in traditional shading solutions. Conventional methods, such as fabric curtains, encroach on headroom, while adhesive films can bubble and detach, and installing pull-down curtains disrupts the aesthetic and spatial integrity of vehicles, negatively impacting user interaction with nature. Jingyi's LV (Light Valve) smart nano-dimming glass employs suspension particle technology, placing nano-materials between two layers of ITO (indium tin oxide) to achieve precise lighting adjustments, with a response time reaching seconds (unaffected by glass area or width), providing uniform and consistent dimming that transitions naturally between bright and dark states like sunglasses. The technology boasts three industry-first achievements: 1. The Jlink ink-gray series dimming solution breaks the traditional blue tint limitation, perfectly matching light-colored interiors to ensure passengers experience no light pollution discomfort, while drawing inspiration from Chinese ink painting to create more diverse spatial applications; 2. The double-curved large arch high design solves the global challenges of applying dimming films to double-curved surfaces, achieving consistent dimming in curved glass and opening new possibilities for future intelligent driving spaces; 3. The industry's only hundredfold dimming range allows for a light transmission adjustment between 0.4% and 40%, catering to personalized lighting needs and significantly enhancing spatial comfort and experience. Testing shows that Jingyi's smart dimming glass has an infrared rejection rate of 99.9%, and a UV rejection rate of up to 99.99% (blocking UV rays above 400nm), with a TTS value as low as 13%, and dark state light blocking rates covering a range from 88% to 99.88%, providing top-tier optical protective performance while achieving a perfect balance between daylighting, sun protection, heat insulation, and privacy. User studies indicate that the 2-5 second visual perception time significantly reduces light stimuli in tunnel scenarios, particularly benefiting the elderly and children; in wooded conditions, this dimming speed effectively reduces flicker and visual fatigue, with 89% of users preferring this natural transition experience, while 72% found a 1-second dimming too abrupt and fast, underscoring the advantage of this speed in comfort and response efficiency. The J1 AIGLASS intelligent control system integrates perception data from environmental light intensity, rainfall, chassis steering angle, cockpit clock signals, and electric voltage to trigger intelligent dimming in seconds during tunnel crossings, rainy nights, or when turning. This system supports multimodal human-machine interaction through voice command recognition, touch interaction, wireless remote control, and temperature sensing, creating a fully immersive natural interaction experience. Coupled with the industry's first multi-zone intelligent dimming skylight design, it can independently control the light transmission in various zones, for instance, dimming the overhead area for rear-seat passengers seeking a serene environment while utilizing a world-leading privacy solution on side windows, achieving a dual optical effect of 'invisible from outside, clear view from inside' within a light transmission range of 0.05% to 5%, eliminating the aesthetic disruption caused by traditional shading curtains and endowing the cockpit with a pure visual transparency. In the Zeekr 001 model, Jingyi's smart dimming glass technology has achieved mass production, delivering over 20,000 units, with user feedback consistently recognizing a significant enhancement in the cockpit's spatial transparency and design purity, while completely optimizing the headroom issue caused by the elevated chassis of new energy vehicles by eliminating traditional fabric shades. The technology, backed by high yields and stable quality performance, is not only applied to automotive skylights, side windows, and rear windshields but also extends to architectural facades, aircraft windows, high-speed rail windows, and other cross-industry scenarios, successfully validating its full-size application potential from small automotive dimensions to large architectural sizes, meeting the lighting environment requirements of future urban living spaces and promoting the industrial development of material innovations across diverse fields. Jingyi Technology has established an intelligent industrial park in Huangyan, Taizhou, covering an area of 54,000 square meters, with a total construction area of 100,000 square meters, equipped with industry-class cleanrooms and three globally leading optical coating technology production lines, achieving a closed-loop production system from deep processing of nano inks, new material synthesis, to large-scale production of LV glue liquids and dimming film coating. The unique coating process effectively addresses industry challenges such as streaks, polarization, and uneven widths, while integrating automotive-grade automated post-processing lines to enable flexible manufacturing of single to multiple zones for FPC electrodes. Leveraging this manufacturing system, the company has applied for over 160 patents for technological innovation, covering 16 countries across the Asia-Pacific, Europe, and the Americas (including China, Japan, South Korea, the United States, Germany, France, Italy, and the United Kingdom), with 100 domestic applications including over 60 invention patents and 40 overseas applications, forming a global intellectual property barrier, and ensuring reliability and cost control of the entire product chain through IATF 16949 quality management certification. Looking ahead, as smart cockpits transition into the 'third living space', dimming glass needs to further balance light transmission rates with energy consumption, costs, and customization demands. Jingyi will continue to focus on its smart nano-dimming technology, develop temperature-sensitive self-responsive modules, and explore integration with AR-HUD applications. The company's vision is to become a core solution provider for smart dimming glass globally, driving green travel and enhanced spatial experiences through material innovation, realizing its industrial mission of 'Precision and Uniqueness, Empowering Lighting Environment Revolution'.
