Jaguar Land Rover Issues Recall for 20,999 Vehicles in the US Due to Airbag Issues
According to reports from foreign media, on July 12, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) announced that Jaguar Land Rover North America would recall 20,999 vehicles in the United States due to a risk of the passenger side airbags rupturing, which may not provide adequate protection in the event of a collision, increasing the risk of injury to occupants. This issue was discovered during internal testing by the NHTSA and was subsequently verified. So far, no accidents or injuries related to this defect have been reported. The recall affects the 2021 to 2025 model years of the Land Rover Range Rover Evoque. The issue arises from the potential rupture of the passenger side airbag during deployment. Additionally, the ruptured airbags could lead to the leakage of high-temperature gases, posing a burn risk to occupants. In the event of a frontal collision, this defect increases the likelihood of severe injuries to occupants, thus owners must address this issue promptly. Jaguar Land Rover has acknowledged the defect and is taking proactive measures to ensure customer safety by offering free replacement services for the faulty airbag modules. The company advises owners of the affected 2021 to 2025 Range Rover Evoque models to verify if their vehicles are included in the recall and to take immediate action to mitigate related risks. According to the recall plan disclosed by the NHTSA, dealers will receive notifications by July 21, 2025, and Jaguar Land Rover dealers will provide free replacement of the passenger airbag module for owners. It is expected that Jaguar Land Rover will mail recall notification letters to owners by August 29, 2025, detailing the process for free replacement. Customers who previously paid for similar airbag repairs will be eligible for refunds upon submitting appropriate documentation. Owners of the 2021 to 2025 Range Rover Evoque can visit the Jaguar Land Rover USA website’s recall page or use the NHTSA’s recall lookup tool to enter their Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) to confirm whether their vehicle is affected. If their vehicle is impacted, owners should contact the nearest Land Rover service center to schedule a free airbag module replacement service. Owners seeking refunds must collect and submit repair receipts.
