The Impact of the 36-Car High-Speed Intelligent Driving Test by Dongche Di

The Impact of the 36-Car High-Speed Intelligent Driving Test by Dongche Di
Dongche Di recently launched an ambitious 36-car high-speed intelligent driving test, closing a highway in Hainan for seven days to realistically simulate six common accident scenarios on highways. The event, captured with multiple cameras and night infrared footage, showcased a series of shocking collisions, sparking a significant public discussion. Three main opinions emerged from this discourse: 1) Tesla's testing conditions were inconsistent compared to other vehicles, suggesting Dongche Di may have engaged in manipulation and fraud; 2) The 2023 Tesla models (3 and X) outperformed numerous domestic new cars in this test, clearly leading the pack; 3) The current so-called 'intelligent driving' is merely driver assistance and not true autonomous driving, with manufacturers exaggerating their capabilities. There are even bizarre theories suggesting this is part of a larger scheme to educate the public about the safety of driver assistance before the commercial rollout of L3 technology, possibly preventing future accidents. As a fellow member of the media, I find it hard to believe that Dongche Di would resort to deception; such a large-scale test covered by mainstream media would leave substantial evidence if any bias or fraud were present. A suggestion for Dongche Di is to counter the conspiracy theories by releasing all testing videos for public scrutiny. Furthermore, no manufacturer has claimed that their mass-produced intelligent driving systems equate to full autonomy, as doing so would be illegal and technically inaccurate. The defining feature of full autonomous driving is the absence of a steering wheel. Until then, drivers must remain attentive, ready to take control if necessary. The test results highlighted Tesla as an exception, with both Model 3 and Model X performing exceptionally well, achieving first place in their respective categories. The testing demonstrated impressive capabilities, particularly in handling complex accident scenarios. Ultimately, Tesla's success in this test reflects not just its technological prowess but also the extensive training and scientific methods behind its development. Rather than fostering conspiracy theories, we should recognize Tesla's achievements as a collective success for everyone in this era. As the industry evolves, collaboration and learning from each other will be essential for advancement. Tesla serves as a mirror and bridge between the U.S. and China, holding unmatched value for consumers and industries alike.
