Horizon President Chen Liming Discusses Rapid Growth in Intelligent Driving at 2025 China Automotive Forum
On July 11, it was reported that Chen Liming, President of Horizon, stated at the 2025 China Automotive Forum that smartphones have provided real value to users, leading to rapid growth. Similarly, new energy vehicles are also delivering tangible value to users, resulting in swift expansion. He believes that mid-to-high-level intelligent driving has reached a turning point and will experience rapid growth in the future. Chen Liming substantiated his assessment based on three aspects: First, intelligent driving is a crucial component of the development of smart connected new energy vehicles in the country. The government's work report and the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology have outlined plans and action directions for the development of smart vehicles. Electrification plays a vital role in 'Made in China 2025' and has made significant contributions. According to Chen, intelligence will also be an essential part of the subsequent '14th Five-Year' and '15th Five-Year' plans after 'Made in China 2025'. Second, industry promotion. In recent years, NOA (Navigation on Autopilot) in urban and highway settings has gradually moved from high-end vehicles (over 300,000 RMB) down to below 150,000 RMB this year. In the first quarter of this year, the equalization of intelligent driving across various automotive manufacturers has further promoted its widespread application, driving technological advancement, cost reduction, and performance improvement to make it affordable for more consumers. Third, the demand from Chinese end customers. A McKinsey report has shown that when choosing between electric and fuel vehicles, one of the top three factors consumers consider for electric vehicles is 'intelligence'. The same applies to high-end brands, where two out of the top three factors are related to 'intelligent driving' and 'intelligent cockpits'. This indicates that customers are increasingly considering intelligent features when selecting high-end vehicles. In April of this year, it was reported that Horizon officially announced further cooperation with Volkswagen Group in the high-end field based on Horizon's full-scene intelligent driving solution HSD (Horizon SuperDriveā„¢). In fact, as early as 2022, Volkswagen Group and Horizon established their partnership. In November 2023, the joint venture company CoolCore was announced. Currently, the joint venture has over 500 intelligent driving engineers focusing on creating industry-leading, highly optimized full-stack solutions. Furthermore, the L2+ level intelligent driving solution developed by CoolCore based on Horizon's Journey 6 has begun extensive road testing and will be launched in 2026 with a new compact pure electric model built on the CEA architecture. Officially, Horizon's HSD is equipped with the Horizon Journey 6P, which combines hardware and software to provide users with an ultimate human-like experience characterized by exceptional traffic efficiency and graceful demeanor. Whether navigating complex urban intersections, busy narrow roads, or current challenges like narrow U-turns and internal park roads, HSD can smoothly handle these situations. Additionally, HSD has developed an HMI (Human-Machine Interface) that rivals leading AAA games, providing an immersive display of the system's understanding of the traffic environment and the behavior of traffic participants, easing human-machine trust issues and enhancing user experience.
