According to reports, Ford Motor Company has filed a patent application with the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) for a system designed to convey tire pressure sound information, which may be applied to future Ford vehicles. The patent was submitted on January 11, 2024, and published on July 17, 2025, with the serial number 0232620. Ford has released multiple patents aimed at enhancing user experience in tire inflation for its future vehicles. These patents include concepts for spare tire inflation systems and tire pressure notification systems. The newly published patent continues this theme and introduces a novel featureāa system concept aimed at transmitting tire pressure sound information. The vehicle demonstrated in the patent application includes a detection unit, an external speaker system, and a processor. The detection unit is configured to detect the tire pressure of each vehicle tire and to ascertain the presence of the user as well as their location near the vehicle. The external speaker system may include multiple speakers configured to output audio signals. The processor is designed to determine whether predefined conditions from the input received from the detection unit are met. It can also identify one or more speakers from the external speaker system and output sound messages based on the types of predefined conditions that may be satisfied. The processor is capable of instructing the speakers to output audio messages indicating the tire pressure related to one or more vehicle tires. This system aims to provide vehicle owners with a more convenient way to monitor tire pressure readings while inflating tires. It will be configured to detect tire pressure in real-time and notify users via external speakers when the pressure reaches an ideal level. This system is intended to prevent excessive tire pressure and save users time during the inflation process, especially for certain inflation machines that lack built-in displays. Ford stated, 'Filing a patent application is a routine measure for companies to protect innovative achievements and build an intellectual property system. The content of the patent application should not be viewed as a basis for business or product planning. Regardless of how the patent is described, we always center our development and promotion decisions for new products and services around customer needs.'
