China's Market Regulator Strengthens Recall Management for Commercial Vehicles

Recently, the State Administration for Market Regulation (SAMR) in China has initiated defect investigations against ten commercial vehicle manufacturers based on the Regulations on the Recall Management of Defective Automotive Products. The manufacturers are urged to implement recalls to eliminate safety hazards associated with their vehicles. The recall involves Dongfeng Commercial Vehicle Co., Ltd., Beiqi Foton Motor Co., Ltd., Jinlong United Automotive Industry (Suzhou) Co., Ltd., FAW Jiefang Automotive Co., Ltd., FAW Jiefang Qingdao Automotive Co., Ltd., Anhui Jianghuai Automobile Group Co., Ltd., China National Heavy Duty Truck Group Jinan Commercial Vehicle Co., Ltd., China National Heavy Duty Truck Group Jinan Truck Co., Ltd., Shandong Huayao Automotive Parts Co., Ltd., and Shandong Luoxiang Automotive Manufacturing Co., Ltd. A total of 56 vehicle models and 1,675 vehicles are affected. The main defects include protective devices, roof rods, reflective markings on the vehicle body, and the driver seat vacancy alert function, which do not comply with national mandatory safety standards and pose safety risks. This recall is significant in eliminating safety hazards for commercial vehicles, reducing traffic accident risks from the source, and ensuring the safety of public travel. Moving forward, the SAMR will continue to strengthen cooperation with the Ministry of Public Security to promote the establishment of an information sharing mechanism, building a strong defense against vehicle safety risks and effectively safeguarding the lives and property of the public as well as road traffic safety.
