According to the latest data reported by China Central Radio and Television, as of May this year, the total number of charging infrastructure units in the country has exceeded 14.4 million, reflecting a year-on-year increase of 45.1%. This growth is instrumental in accelerating the development of new energy vehicles (NEVs) in China. In June, tourism in Qinhuangdao, Hebei has surged significantly, aided by the newly constructed supercharging stations at the Shanhaiguan service area on the Jingha Expressway, which have a total power output of 640 kilowatts, enabling a rapid charging experience of 'one kilometer per second'. Technicians at the service area have conducted thorough checks on the charging equipment and various IoT cards to ensure reliable power supply. Dedicated personnel and vehicles are also stationed along the highway to provide on-site charging guidance for electric vehicle owners. In Jinan, Shandong, a demonstration station for new and old energy conversion has built the largest fully liquid-cooled supercharging group in the country, capable of charging 100 kWh in just ten minutes. The station's manager, Ning Dalei, highlighted the use of autonomous charging robots that can locate vehicles and enhance the charging experience for users. The robots operate with a 120 kW DC fast charging function, allowing an electric vehicle's battery to be charged from 30% to 80% in approximately 15 minutes. During peak charging times, vehicle owners can request assistance from staff to operate the charging process remotely. By the end of 2024, the number of NEVs in China is expected to reach 31.4 million, with over 22 million being pure electric vehicles. To better meet the needs of the public for purchasing and using NEVs, China is actively advancing the construction of charging infrastructure. The latest statistics indicate that from January to May this year, 1.583 million new charging units were added, including 504,000 public charging stations and 1.079 million privately installed charging stations. According to Zou Peng, Executive Secretary-General of the China Electric Vehicle Charging Infrastructure Promotion Alliance, the growth of charging infrastructure and NEVs is expected to continue rapidly, with a ratio of one charging unit for every three vehicles, effectively supporting the rapid development of NEVs.
