BMW Brilliance and China Datang Group Sign Strategic Agreement for Green Automotive Industry Chain

On July 24, BMW Brilliance Automotive Ltd. and China Datang Group Co., Ltd. officially signed a strategic cooperation agreement in Shenyang to 'jointly build a green automotive industry chain'. They will establish a joint venture company focused on developing a 1 million kilowatt onshore wind power project. This marks BMW Brilliance as the first automotive manufacturer in China to establish a joint venture for green electricity, initiating a new model of cross-industry cooperation between the automotive and energy sectors. This collaboration represents another significant milestone for BMW Group in deepening local innovation and fulfilling its commitment to sustainable development in China. The joint venture will prioritize supplying green electricity to BMW's Shenyang production base, while also providing green electricity procurement options to BMW's suppliers, dealers, and charging service operators in Liaoning, accelerating the entire industry chain's transformation toward a green, low-carbon, and high-quality direction. The joint venture will serve as a green energy supply platform, offering stable and traceable green electricity through a trading mechanism to BMW's Shenyang production base. This initiative will help BMW Group achieve its carbon reduction targets across scope 1, 2, and 3, embedding green genes into the new generation of domestically produced BMW models set to launch in 2026. Once completed, the new wind power project will become an important part of BMW Brilliance's energy landscape, complementing existing photovoltaic power and geothermal heating systems to create a multidimensional clean energy solution that covers production processes.
