Spy shots of a new BYD plug-in hybrid sedan have been circulating online, with sources suggesting it will be named the Seal 07 DM-i. The vehicle is expected to be positioned above the recently launched Seal 06 DM-i in BYD’s Ocean series lineup.
The camouflaged test vehicle appears to be larger than the Seal 06, with a more substantial and imposing design. The front end features a larger grille and more aggressive styling, while the rear end has a sleek, fastback-like profile.
The interior is expected to follow BYD’s latest design language, with a large rotating central screen and a minimalist dashboard layout. The Seal 07 DM-i will likely be equipped with BYD’s latest DiLink intelligent connectivity system and DiPilot advanced driving assistance system.
The vehicle will be powered by BYD’s fifth-generation DM-i plug-in hybrid technology, which is known for its high efficiency and long range. It is expected to offer a pure electric range of over 100 km and a comprehensive range of over 1500 km.
The BYD Seal 07 DM-i is expected to be officially launched in the second half of this year, with a price range projected to be between 150,000 and 200,000 yuan. It will compete with other mid-size plug-in hybrid sedans in the Chinese market, such as the GAC Trumpchi Empow and the Geely Galaxy L6.
