BYD announced today the delivery and naming ceremony for its sixth car carrier vessel, the “BYD CHANGSHA,” held in Haimen, Jiangsu. Named after the city of Changsha, the ship boasts 9,200 standard vehicle loading slots and is powered by the latest LNG dual-fuel clean energy technology.

This launch comes as China’s vehicle exports continue to show strong growth in 2025. From January to May, China exported a cumulative 2.83 million vehicles, a 16% year-over-year increase. In May alone, exports reached 682,000 units, up 22% from the previous year. BYD’s own overseas sales hit 88,640 units in May 2025, a staggering 133.6% increase year-over-year.

Another vessel, the “BYD XI’AN,” which was delivered on June 21st, is set to depart today carrying approximately 7,000 BYD vehicles to European markets, including the United Kingdom, Italy, Spain, and Belgium.

According to BYD, its operational fleet, which includes the “EXPLORER NO.1,” “BYD CHANGZHOU,” “BYD HEFEI,” “BYD SHENZHEN,” and “BYD XI’AN,” has already transported over 70,000 BYD new energy vehicles to destinations worldwide.
