ZhiJi Motors Launches Star Super Range Extender Technology

On August 1, ZhiJi Motors debuted SAIC's self-developed super range extender technology, named "Star" Super Range Extender, marking its entry into the range extender market. The Star Super Range Extender features the industry's largest "66kWh 800V range extender battery solution", offering a pure electric range of over 450 kilometers according to CLTC standards, and an overall experience of over 1500 kilometers, while ensuring high safety and low-temperature performance. ZhiJi Motors aims to eliminate concerns about new energy vehicles, allowing everyone to embrace the transformation brought by electrification and intelligence. SAIC Group President and ZhiJi Motors Chairman Jia Jianxu; SAIC Group Vice President and ZhiJi Motors CEO Jiang Jun; and CATL's CTO for domestic passenger and commercial vehicles, Gao Huan, attended the launch event. The Star Super Range Extender, equipped with a supercharging station, provides an industry-leading pure electric range of 450 km, allowing users to commute for a week on a single charge, based on a weekly average of 333 km in pure electric range, which satisfies over 92% of new energy users' urban commuting scenarios. To make pure electric travel the standard for commuting, ZhiJi Motors collaborated with CATL to develop the industry’s largest 66kWh 800V dedicated range extender battery - the "Super Xiao Yao MAX Battery", achieving an unmatched pure electric range of 450 km, allowing users to meet their weekly commuting needs on a single charge. In response to urgent charging needs, the Star Super Range Extender is equipped with an 800V ultra-fast charging high-voltage platform, with a peak charging power of 268 kW, enabling a replenishment of 310 km of CLTC range in just 15 minutes, roughly the time it takes to drink a cup of coffee. ZhiJi Motors and CATL also developed the "Super Xiao Yao MAX Battery" to provide a comprehensive range of 1500 km, ensuring an elite electric vehicle experience throughout. Leveraging decades of self-developed technological reserves from SAIC, the Star Super Range Extender is powered by the Zephyr 1.5T range extender exclusive high-efficiency engine, optimized for thermal efficiency across various scenarios, achieving a record low fuel consumption of 5.32L/100km for range-extended SUVs, and reducing fuel consumption to less than 5.5L per 100 km for mid-to-large range-extended SUVs. Additionally, the combined fuel and electric consumption can be as low as 2.07L/100km, representing a 35% reduction compared to mainstream mid-to-large range-extended SUVs. Furthermore, the Star Super Range Extender features an AI energy management system that intelligently allocates optimal reserve power, maintaining system efficiency while providing an elite electric vehicle experience over 1500 km. The Star Super Range Extender not only serves as a range extender but also as a powerful electric vehicle, with performance remaining robust even at low battery levels. The vehicle features the industry's top-end Super Xiao Yao MAX battery and an 800V silicon carbide hurricane electric motor, balancing efficiency and performance. Acceleration from 80 to 120 km/h in overtaking situations surpasses mainstream range-extended SUVs. Even with battery levels as low as 16%, the discharge power remains high at 275.5 kW, ensuring that the system's reserve power covers 100% of the electric axle power, allowing for steep climbs and rapid overtakes without compromising on confidence and enjoyment during acceleration. The Star Super Range Extender utilizes a full NVH optimization process from engine to chassis to ensure exceptional quietness, with the industry-first ERNC active noise cancellation technology effectively controlling cabin idle noise to below 36 decibels. The range extender's activation is virtually imperceptible, providing a library-like quiet experience for passengers during travel. The Star Super Range Extender significantly reduces vehicle operating costs, with costs as low as 5 cents per kilometer in electric mode for daily commuting or weekend trips, and it efficiently burns 92-octane fuel at a low fuel consumption rate of 5.32L/100km for long-distance travel. The 66kWh range extender battery pack meets aerospace-level safety standards, integrating ZhiJi's self-developed architecture with CATL's high-safety battery cells, and is equipped with seven layers of upgraded safety protection, exceeding the stringent new national standards set for 2026. The innovative safety technology alleviates user concerns regarding battery safety when choosing new energy vehicles. For winter driving in northern climates, the Star Super Range Extender adopts a dedicated new energy strategy - the low-temperature travel mode, enabling rapid warming in temperatures as low as -10°C, eliminating the need for extended warm-up times. Even at -20°C, the battery maintains an optimal temperature of 20°C, addressing core issues related to winter battery degradation. The Star Super Range Extender sets a new value benchmark in the development of range extender technology, alleviating user anxieties related to range, fuel depletion, refueling, battery safety, and winter driving. The vehicle offers a luxurious driving experience comparable to top-tier pure electric models and introduces a new category of new energy vehicles - electric vehicles with built-in supercharging stations. The new generation ZhiJi LS6, the only large five-seat SUV with a large battery range extender this year, will make its global debut on August 15; the highly anticipated luxury flagship model, the ZhiJi LS9, is set to meet users in the fourth quarter of this year.
