On the evening of June 26, Xiaomi held a press conference in Beijing to officially unveil its first SUV, the Xiaomi YU7. The event also saw the launch of over ten new products, including a foldable smartphone, AI glasses, and smart home appliances. Xiaomi's founder and chairman, Lei Jun, announced that the company plans to invest 200 billion yuan in core technology research and development over the next five years. The YU7 comes in three versions: standard, Pro, and Max, with nine color options. Notably, the standard version offers a CLTC range of 835 kilometers. Additionally, the Xiaomi SU7 Ultra racetrack professional package and the Nurburgring limited edition were also launched. According to the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers, the production and sales of automobiles in China saw a year-on-year growth of over 10% in the first five months of this year. Specifically, new energy vehicles achieved sales of approximately 5.7 million and 5.6 million units, marking a 45.2% and 44% increase respectively. The overall performance of the automotive industry in China is showing a stable and positive trend. In an interview, Lei Jun emphasized that Xiaomi is committed to focusing on core technologies from the outset, increasing investments in key areas such as motors, batteries, and chassis. He stated that for China's smart electric vehicles to reach world-class standards and advance toward high-end markets, it is crucial to seize strategic opportunities, pursue technological innovation, improve product safety, and continuously invest in future technology.
