Tesla Restaurant Opens in Los Angeles with Unique Features
After years of planning, Elon Musk's Tesla restaurant officially opened in Los Angeles on July 21. This UFO-shaped establishment, infused with retro-futuristic design, combines a restaurant, Tesla charging station, and auto cinema into one. The building has two levels, with the lower level covering approximately 3,800 square feet (about 353 square meters) and an outdoor seating area of 5,500 square feet (about 511 square meters). Currently, there are 32 V4 superchargers outside, with plans to expand to 75. The outdoor charging area features a massive 45-foot screen that loops classic sci-fi films, allowing around 35 charging vehicles' owners to enjoy movies while they charge. The indoor dining area includes circular booths and a long curved bar, with the service provided by Tesla's Optimus robots. The second-floor outdoor terrace offers views of the surrounding neighborhood. The restaurant plans to operate year-round, 24 hours a day, and expects to serve between 2,000 to 2,500 customers daily. The menu features American fast food, including burgers and fries served in Cybertruck boxes, hot dogs, chicken wings, popcorn, milkshakes, and soda, all priced competitively with local levels. Musk shared a post on X showcasing Optimus serving burgers and popcorn to customers. The restaurant also features a new digital ordering system, allowing Tesla owners to place orders directly from their cars. Once the system detects a vehicle is 15 to 20 minutes away, the kitchen starts preparing the food. Customers can choose to have their meals delivered to their car or dine inside. Musk emphasized that non-Tesla owners are also welcome. "I had dinner at the retro-futuristic @Tesla restaurant and supercharger station. The team did an amazing job; it has become one of the coolest spots in Los Angeles!" Additionally, the restaurant serves as an immersive space for Tesla culture, showcasing the brand's logos, robots, and cars, as well as a small exhibition space featuring limited-edition items like Optimus figurines, retro-style T-shirts, and candy. It also displays fragments from the shattered glass from the 2019 Cybertruck unveiling and a prototype of the bulletproof steel. The Tesla Cybercab and a modified Model Y police car concept are also featured. Musk stated, "If our retro-futuristic restaurant is well-received (which I believe it will be), @Tesla will establish similar restaurants in major cities and along long-distance routes, creating islands of food, fun, and entertainment while providing supercharging!" Seven years ago, Musk announced on the X platform plans for a vintage auto cinema, roller skating rink, and rock restaurant next to a Tesla supercharger in Los Angeles, emphasizing that the restaurant would integrate an auto cinema, retro-futuristic dining, and electric vehicle charging functionalities. Now that the restaurant has finally opened, Tesla's charging scenarios have greatly expanded, enhancing both functionality and experience. Musk disclosed that the next location will be a supercharging amusement park with roller coaster experiences in Las Vegas, with plans to deploy 200 similar sites globally within five years. As Musk envisions, such restaurants may become the starting point for the integration of travel and scene consumption in future business models. Moreover, this composite commercial space serves as an excellent reference for many domestic car companies, especially those emphasizing travel lifestyles in the new energy sector, potentially becoming another avenue for growth.
