ROHM and Chery Automotive Host Successful Supply Chain Technology Co-Creation Day
On July 8, 2025, in Shanghai, globally renowned semiconductor manufacturer ROHM (headquartered in Kyoto, Japan) announced the successful conclusion of the "Chery-ROHM Supply Chain Technology Co-Creation Exchange Day" held on June 5, 2025, at Chery's headquarters. Attendees included Dr. Gao Xinhua, Executive Vice President of Chery Automobile Co., Ltd., and Masaki Sakai, Senior Executive Officer of ROHM, among other senior leaders. Technical experts and key supply chain partners from both sides gathered to discuss cutting-edge automotive electronics technologies, aiming to inject strong innovative momentum into the future of smart mobility. In his speech, Dr. Gao Xinhua emphasized that the wave of electrification and intelligence in the automotive industry has unprecedented demands for core electronic components. As a leader in the global semiconductor field, ROHM has deep expertise in advanced power devices such as silicon carbide (SiC) and diversified automotive electronic solutions. This event marks an important milestone in the strategic partnership between the two companies. Through this event, Chery's R&D system and core supply chain partners will gain in-depth knowledge of ROHM's innovative technologies and reliable products, jointly exploring more competitive solutions to accelerate Chery's technological breakthroughs and product upgrades in new markets. Masaki Sakai, Senior Executive Officer of ROHM, highlighted that ROHM is committed to focusing on power electronics and analog fields, contributing to achieving 'energy saving' and 'miniaturization' goals for its customers while addressing social issues. Currently, automotive products account for about 50% of ROHM's sales, reflecting their strong emphasis on the automotive industry. Chery is a benchmark in China's automotive industry, and its rapid development and forward-looking vision are impressive. ROHM not only sees Chery as a key customer but also as a strategic partner in defining the future of mobility. This 'Technology Co-Creation Exchange Day' provides an opportunity to deeply understand ROHM's products and jointly explore cutting-edge technologies and applications in the automotive sector. The event featured rich content, covering four major areas: 'Power and New Energy,' 'Smart Cockpits and Intelligent Driving Cars,' 'Body Control and Automotive Lighting,' and 'Discrete Devices,' showcasing 22 cutting-edge products from ROHM. ROHM demonstrated innovative automotive electronic technologies, products, and solutions, and its technical experts conducted five seminars covering SiC and drive, automotive lighting, system power, image processing and HUD, Ser-Des, and functional safety. Advanced SiC wafers have already been applied to the electric drive systems of Chery's Starry Sky models. These SiC materials exhibit higher efficiency, high-temperature resistance, and low loss characteristics, significantly enhancing the power density and overall energy efficiency of electric vehicles, thereby extending their range. The advanced driving assistance systems of high-end intelligent automotive brands are also equipped with ROHM's high-speed SerDes chips, ensuring stable, reliable, and high-speed data transmission capabilities for cameras, displays, and main processors, while guaranteeing low-latency and anti-interference transmission of massive data. Additionally, ROHM showcased its vehicle lighting driver products, body control-related IPD and half-bridge drivers, and thermal management system-related IGBT and gate drivers. ROHM's high-performance vehicle lighting driver ICs support high-precision dimming, multi-channel control, and complex communication protocols, ensuring even and stable brightness for headlights, taillights, and interior ambient lights. The body control IPD and half-bridge drivers from ROHM feature high integration, reliability, and low power consumption, helping to simplify designs and enhance system reliability, widely applied in body control modules (BCM) for window, sunroof, wiper, seat adjustment, and other actuator controls. The efficient IGBT modules and gate drivers from ROHM possess low conduction/switching loss, high voltage resistance, and excellent heat dissipation performance, ensuring efficient and reliable operation of thermal management units. The successful hosting of the 'Chery-ROHM Supply Chain Technology Co-Creation Exchange Day' not only showcased ROHM's strong technological innovation capabilities and profound understanding of the future of automotive electronics but also highlighted Chery and ROHM's firm determination to deepen strategic collaboration and pursue development with an open approach. As the automotive industry accelerates towards electrification and intelligence, the strong partnership between Chery and ROHM will continue to drive technological innovation, jointly forging a safer, more efficient, and smarter mobile future, contributing core technological strength to the transformation and upgrading of the automotive industry in China and globally.
