Recent details have emerged about the Hyundai IONIQ 6 N, which is set to be the brand's second high-performance electric vehicle. The new model will retain the exciting design elements of the IONIQ 5 N, including the N e-shift sound simulation and N Drift Optimizer drift mode, while also receiving upgrades to enhance driving enjoyment. The official launch is scheduled for July 10 at the Goodwood Festival of Speed.
In terms of appearance, the IONIQ 6 N will be upgraded based on the new Hyundai IONIQ 6, featuring a spoiler at the lower bumper and vertically arranged airflow end plates. The rear will sport a dual-layer spoiler design, and the fenders will have a wide-body treatment to showcase its sporty attributes.
Details include a further optimized N e-shift sound simulation system, which will feature a precise ratio setting usable in every driving mode, and a 'shift indicator light' added at the 12 o'clock position of the steering wheel to further excite drivers' adrenaline. Additionally, the N Drift Optimizer mode will offer more settings to accommodate different driver preferences, making drifting more controllable.
The major upgrade focuses on the chassis system, which has been redesigned for suspension geometry to lower the center of gravity while enhancing steering feel. It also comes equipped with new electronically controlled dampers to balance comfort and sporty handling. Power-wise, the IONIQ 6 N is expected to use a dual-motor all-wheel-drive system. For reference, the IONIQ 5 N delivers a maximum output of 609 horsepower and a peak torque of 740 Nm, achieving 0-100 km/h in 3.5 seconds; under the e-N driving pleasure enhancement mode (NGB), the maximum power can boost to 650 horsepower, with peak torque increasing to 770 Nm, and 0-100 km/h time dropping to 3.4 seconds.
