On July 11, Li Auto announced that its first pure electric SUV, the Li Auto i8, will open for pre-orders on July 17. The city tour will kick off on July 18, with display cars arriving at stores, and the official launch is set for July 29. Li Auto CEO Li Xiang stated that the new vehicle redefines the pure electric SUV category, achieving 'superior space' by maximizing the interior space compared to other vehicles of similar dimensions, especially when compared to the Tesla Model X. During last year's Beijing Auto Show, Li emphasized that the new car does not have an MPV design; if the rear portion beyond the C-pillar is removed, the front half resembles the Model Y and Model X. From the official images, the exterior of the Li Auto i8 blends design elements from the MEGA and L series, featuring a bullet-like front profile with smooth lines. The rear adopts a through-type LED taillight similar to the L9, along with a dual-layer spoiler design. Additionally, the new model is expected to offer a two-tone body and a panoramic sky roof. In terms of configuration, the Li Auto i8 will be equipped with Hesai's custom ATL laser radar, air suspension, dual screens, and AR-HUD head-up display, maintaining the family design style for the interior. In terms of power, the Li Auto i8 will feature a dual-motor intelligent all-wheel-drive system with a total power of 400kW, comprising a 150kW front motor and a 250kW rear motor. For the battery, it will be the first to adopt 5C ternary lithium battery technology, offering two capacity options of 90.1kWh and 97.8kWh, corresponding to a range of 670km and 720km under CLTC conditions, balancing efficiency and long-range performance. According to Li Auto's product plan, by 2025, the company will introduce five range-extended models, one super flagship (MEGA), and five pure electric models. Besides the already announced Li Auto i8, the Li Auto i6, i7, and i9 will also be gradually unveiled.
