Imagination DXS GPU IP Enhances Automotive Applications with Advanced Features
Imagination has announced its latest DXS GPU IP, specifically designed for smart cockpit technology. The new GPU boasts a peak performance improvement of 50% over its predecessor, capable of scaling up to 192 GPixel/s, 6 TFLOPS, and 24 TOPS. It offers up to ten times the performance boost for computational workloads and introduces an innovative distributed safety mechanism to achieve ASIL-B level functional safety with minimal overhead. Key advantages include: 1. **Safety**: The IMG DXS complies with ASIL-B certification standards and introduces a groundbreaking functional safety processing solution called Distributed Safety Mechanisms, significantly reducing the performance, power, and area overhead caused by fault detection logic. 2. **Powerful Graphics Processing**: The performance of the IMG DXS is at least 50% higher than the most powerful core of the previous generation, with a top core providing 48 GPixel/s at 1GHz and scalable to four cores. It utilizes efficiency features from the D series, such as 2D Dual-Rate Texturing, to deliver stunning effects at minimal cost. 3. **Smart Computing**: A synergy between hardware and software optimization results in a tenfold increase in computational performance compared to the previous generation, making the IMG DXS an ideal GPU IP for common automotive computing tasks such as driver monitoring and LiDAR/RADAR data preprocessing. **Application Scenarios**: The DXS GPU is designed to handle graphics and computing workloads in smart cockpits, infotainment systems, and advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS). **Future Prospects**: The future application of the Imagination DXS GPU looks promising, particularly in the rapidly evolving fields of smart cockpit and ADAS integration, automotive functional safety, and AI graphics parallel computing.
