Ford Offers 48-Month Interest-Free Loans to Boost Sales
Ford Motor Company announced on July 8 that most of its Ford and Lincoln brand models are now available with a 48-month interest-free loan and no payments required for the first 90 days, following a successful three-month employee pricing discount strategy that helped increase market share. This promotional offer will last until September 2. However, Ford stated that the promotion does not apply to the 2025 models of the Ford Bronco Sport, Bronco, Expedition, Maverick, Ranger, Transit, Super Duty, and Lincoln Navigator. Additionally, the 2024 models of the Ford Maverick, Ranger, Transit, Super Duty, F-150 Lightning, and Mustang Mach-E, as well as all 2024 and 2025 Ford Raptors are also excluded from this promotion. Rob Kaffl, Ford's Director of U.S. Sales and Dealer Relations, mentioned in a statement that the company believes consumers prefer to lower their upfront car purchasing costs. 'Many families have already allocated their savings towards higher mortgage rates and summer travel expenses. They want a new vehicle but also hope for plans that allow them to avoid upfront payments.' Eddie Stivers, Chairman of the Ford U.S. Dealer Council, stated that the new 'zero down payment, zero interest, zero monthly payments' marketing strategy forms a strong combination following the success of the employee discount pricing strategy. He also noted that Ford is offering a complimentary two-year premium maintenance plan, allowing customers to avoid out-of-pocket costs for oil changes or tire replacements. Stivers, who is also the President of Stivers Automotive Group in Atlanta (which owns five Ford dealerships), added that under the fluctuating impact of U.S. federal tariff policies, Ford's sales and marketing team has significantly improved communication transparency with retailers, which is highly commendable. 'When manufacturers and dealer networks form deep collaboration, and the information communicated can accurately reach the target purchasing group, it creates an unstoppable competitive advantage. As a Ford dealer, I am confident in the current strategy.' Notably, as the new promotional campaign launches, Ford's sales in the U.S. for the second quarter increased by 14% year-over-year, with market share rising by 1.8 percentage points. In the first half of this year, Ford brand sales surpassed those of Toyota and Chevrolet, making it the top-selling brand in the U.S. Rob Kaffl remarked, 'Such achievements are exciting, but they also provide us with more valuable opportunities for listening and further improvement.' In addition to the new promotional program, Ford has once again extended the offer for free installation of home electric vehicle chargers. Such promotional activities are expected to boost showroom traffic during critical periods. Given that tariffs on imported vehicles and parts have led to ongoing inventory tightening and price increases, most industry experts predict a decline in U.S. auto sales in the second half of this year.
