Elektrobit Announces Significant Progress in Software for Software-Defined Vehicles
Elektrobit today announced a significant step in developing scalable and cost-effective software for software-defined vehicles (SDVs). The newly launched EB tresos AutoCore Light is designed for peripheral ECUs such as smart sensors and actuators, allowing for flexible integration into modern zonal architectures and suitable for upgrades to existing domain control architectures while reducing development complexity and costs. Transitioning to software-defined mobility requires not only the adoption of new technologies but also the ability of manufacturers to respond to current and future market demands by developing products that meet basic needs while having large-scale scalability. The flexible and scalable solution can be upward or downward compatible based on customer needs, optimizing resource investment. Elektrobit, leveraging its deep experience in embedded automotive software, successful practices with EB tresos AutoCore, and ongoing investment in modular, standards-compliant solutions, has launched a streamlined software platform that meets the emerging demands of SDVs. EB tresos AutoCore Light is specifically designed for peripheral ECUs, compatible with I/O devices, edge nodes, smart sensors, and actuators, offering cost-effectiveness and resource optimization. Key highlights include: ● Modular architecture: Enables code reuse, simplifies update processes, and shortens development cycles. ● Manufacturers can efficiently integrate smart sensors and actuators into their electronic/electrical (E/E) architecture using EB tresos AutoCore Light when building SDVs; the software foundation for zone ECUs is supported by EB tresos AutoCore and EB zoneo. ● By integrating functions into zonal ECUs without introducing OEM-specific requirements and designing streamlined peripheral ECUs, hardware and R&D costs for E/E architectures can be reduced by up to 30% (based on Elektrobit's internal calculations compared to traditional AUTOSAR basic software). ● Peripheral ECUs can utilize smaller microcontrollers (MCUs), further lowering hardware and R&D costs. EB tresos AutoCore Light adopts widely accepted signal-based communication methods without introducing new concepts and complexities. The product meets ASIL-B safety levels and has been certified by CSMS (Cyber Security Management System), ensuring secure and reliable deployment even on resource-constrained hardware platforms. Users can enhance functionality through EB tresos's extension packages, such as J1939 and DLT, with scalability adjustable based on different memory resources (ROM/RAM) to meet diverse application needs. The first version of EB tresos AutoCore Light is now available for select Cortex M0+, M4F, and similar microcontroller platforms, with more updates set to be released throughout the year.
