On July 22, Dongfeng Motor Group Co., Ltd. announced a decision from the Central Organization Department appointing Zhou Feng as Vice General Manager and a member of the Party Committee. This personnel adjustment comes at a critical time as Dongfeng deepens its transition to new energy, attracting widespread attention in the industry. Zhou, a technical manager with a long-standing background in the Dongfeng system, has held several key positions since March 2021, including Deputy General Manager of the Strategic Planning Department and General Manager of the Technology Development Department, where he was deeply involved in the group's new energy strategic layout. During his tenure at Dongfeng Nissan, he led the restructuring of production lines at major bases in Zhengzhou, Dalian, and Xiangyang, promoted the mass production of the Nissan e-POWER technology platform, and facilitated the deep integration of the Dalian new energy manufacturing base with the local industrial chain. Currently, Dongfeng Group is accelerating its new energy transition strategy, with brands like Lantu, NIO, and Fengshen forming a multi-category new energy matrix. Notably, the Lantu FREE+ achieved over 10,000 orders in just 15 minutes after its launch. Zhou's appointment is seen as a significant move to strengthen technical collaboration and platform sharing within the group, with his strategic execution experience expected to drive breakthroughs in critical areas such as the development pace of the three-electric system and the integration of intelligent modules. According to Dongfeng Group's disclosed sales report, the parent company Dongfeng Motor sold 1.055 million vehicles from January to June, a year-on-year decrease of 15.8%. With a year-end target of 3 million vehicles, its sales completion rate for the first half of the year is only 35.2%. However, looking at terminal sales, Dongfeng's half-year sales reached 1.116 million vehicles, with self-owned brands accounting for 60%, indicating that its self-transformation has shown results. It's worth noting that Dongfeng Nissan's cumulative sales in the first half of the year were about 250,000 vehicles, down over 20% year-on-year, though their pure electric sedan N7 has surpassed 10,000 units since its delivery in May, and June saw over 100 functional optimizations pushed through OTA upgrades, demonstrating initial success in their electrification transition. Zhou's experience in regional strategic integration during his time at Nissan may assist the joint venture brand in achieving more efficient resource allocation in the new energy sector.
