Chinese Automakers and Xiaomi Launch Relief Efforts Amid Severe Flooding
As of the afternoon of July 29, 2025, severe rainfall continues in regions such as East China, North China, and Northeast China, causing significant flooding and secondary disasters that have resulted in major casualties and property damage across the country. In response to the disaster, Li Auto, NIO, and the Xiaomi Charity Foundation have released statements and initiated support plans. Following the disaster, Li Auto promptly responded by donating 10 million yuan to the Beijing Charity Association for emergency rescue efforts, support for affected communities, and post-disaster reconstruction. Meanwhile, NIO announced a joint donation of 2 million yuan through the NIO User Public Welfare Foundation in collaboration with the China Charity Federation to support the procurement of emergency living supplies, emergency rescue equipment, and restoration of infrastructure in disaster-affected areas, aiding affected individuals in overcoming difficulties and rebuilding their homes. NIO also clarified that this initiative, called the 'NIO Climate Change Public Welfare Action,' is jointly initiated with NIO, the NIO User Trust, the NIO User Public Welfare Foundation, and the China Charity Federation to prevent and assist with disasters and environmental issues caused by global climate change. Additionally, Xiaomi's founder and CEO Lei Jun announced on his social media platform that the Xiaomi Charity Foundation would donate 5 million yuan in cash to the Eden Foundation, Beijing Pinglan Public Welfare Foundation, and the Hebei Charity United Foundation to support transitional housing and post-disaster reconstruction. They also donated 350,000 yuan in urgently needed supplies, including power banks, walkie-talkies, and flashlights, for emergency assistance in affected areas. Furthermore, the Xiaomi Charity platform, in collaboration with the Eden Foundation, has launched the 'Building a Safe Home with Love' project to raise public donations. Together, we hope for the safety of our mountains and rivers.
