On July 15, 2025, BMW Group officially announced a strategic partnership with Chinese autonomous driving technology company Momenta to jointly develop a new generation of intelligent driving assistance solutions tailored for the Chinese market. The collaboration will leverage the intelligent architecture and hardware platform of domestically-produced new generation models, integrating over 20 years of BMW's driving assistance safety technology with Momenta's AI large model capabilities. Using end-to-end large model technology, it will incorporate vast neural networks for environmental perception, path planning, and vehicle control, focusing on full-scene end-to-end navigation functions in both high-speed and urban settings, achieving comprehensive coverage from parking out of a spot to parking into a destination. BMW's first new generation model, the iX3L, is set to be officially launched in 2026. BMW Group Greater China CEO, Gao Xiang, emphasized that this partnership is a key initiative in implementing the strategy of 'innovating in China, for China, at Chinese speed', marking the first collaboration with a Chinese tech company in the core intelligent driving field, promoting the deep integration of German engineering capabilities with Chinese AI technology. Moving forward, this solution will first be equipped in domestically produced new generation models, with plans to cover multiple sub-market product lines, achieving a three-dimensional balance of intelligence, driving pleasure, and road safety.
