Faraday Future today announced the official launch of its FF AI 2.0 system, which will soon be integrated into FF 91 2.0 vehicles via an over-the-air (OTA) software update. The company states this is the most significant upgrade to the smart cockpit operating system since the FF 91’s debut in 2023, representing a complete restructuring of the FF AI architecture.
The new FF AI 2.0 system features deep integration with OpenAI and is designed to be compatible with other future AI models. The update will first roll out to the FF 91 and is planned for the future FX series as well.
This new version supports real-time switching between more than 50 languages, remembers conversational context, and can understand complex commands. For instance, if a user says, “It’s a bit hot, but I don’t want to turn on the AC,” the system will intelligently suggest opening a window or closing the sunroof shade to improve comfort. The system not only supports natural language interaction but also extends its Large Language Model (LLM) capabilities to core vehicle functions like controls, navigation, and music.
Key features of the FF AI 2.0 system include:
- Support for 50+ languages with real-time mixed recognition in conversation.
- True natural language understanding, recognizing semantic meaning rather than just keywords.
- Real-time command changes, understanding mid-sentence alterations.
- Cross-domain composite command processing, executing multiple actions from a single sentence.
- Multi-turn conversational memory to maintain context over several steps.
- Natural, human-like AI voice.
- Extremely low response latency thanks to a Speech-to-Speech model.
- Semantic Voice Activity Detection (VAD) to recognize when a user has finished speaking.
- Real-time AI web search for the latest information.
- RAG-based intelligent user manual for precise guidance based on FF’s knowledge base.
- Wake word support: Simply say “Hey Faraday” to activate.
